To qualify for an R-1 visa, the applicant must be able to demonstrate that:

They are a member of a religious denomination with a nonprofit religious organization in the United States.

They have been a member of this religious denomination for at least two years before applying for the visa.

They have been offered a job to work in the United States in a full-time religious capacity, such as as a minister, priest, rabbi, religious instructor, or other religious vocation or occupation.
