USCIS Announces New Guidance on Form I-693 Validity Period

Yesterday, the USCIS announced that any immigration medical exam, i.e., Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, that was properly completed and signed by a civil surgeon on or after Nov. 1, 2023 can now be used indefinitely as evidence that an applicant is not inadmissible under the health-related grounds!!

If the USCIS has reason to believe that an applicant’s medical condition has changed since the immigration medical was completed and signed, it has discretion to issued a Request for Evidence (“RFE”) and/or a new or updated Form I-693.  

Any immigration medical exam completed before Nov. 1, 2023 continues to be valid for only 2 years from the date of the civil surgeon’s signature.
